  1. The Greenhand & Senior Quiz must be started between 10 AM & 12 Noon.
  2. CREED SPEAKING CONTEST: Greenhand & Senior Divisions will begin at 10 AM in the order listed below and will run on 10 minutes intervals. Creed speakers will be sequestered at 9:45 AM and must be in the assigned room no later than 10 AM. Failure to be in assigned room WILL result in the forfeit of the 300 points allotted for questions.
  3. Public Relations & Ag Advocacy will run on 20 minute intervals and Radio on 15 minute interval.

AREA SCHOLARSHIP
State Scholarship Committee Member:

  A. Date Applications Due:  March 19, 2018 by 5 PM
  B. Place: All Scholarship application must be complete and delivered (NOT POSTMARKED) to Kyle Holton at Brock or Jennifer Jackson at Frisco Centennial.
  C. Any applications not received by 5 PM will not be considered.
  D. An Official 3½ year Transcript & Financial Aid Report must accompany all scholarship applications. If these are not provided, the application WILL NOT be considered for a scholarship.
  E. Applications will be pre-scored (except interview) on April 4, 2018 at Brock, at 2:30 PM.
  F. Date of Interviews:  April 14, 2018; Interviews will begin at 8:00 am.
  G. Place: Brock High School
  H. Interview times will be drawn and advisors will be notified of the interview time for their scholarship candidates. A request to switch scholarship interview time WILL NOT be allowed unless approved by the scholarship committee chairman!!
  I. Each district will have 2 representatives on the pre-scoring & interview committee. Those 2 representatives were selected at Ag Teachers Conference and if they cannot go, they must find their committee replacement to serve.

  D. Each District needs to send at least 3 teachers to this Lone Star Check. (The ideal is to send 1 teacher with 3 or less years’ experience, 1 teacher of middle experience & 1 tenured teacher.)

  F. Each district must furnish 3 judges for the speaking contest. Please submit their names and contact information to Sandy Scheu.
  G. All district chairmen are expected to be at the Area Degree Check until it is over and all information has been properly recorded.

  C. All applications must be at degree check by 8:30 AM or they will be disqualified!!
  D. It is HIGHLY recommended that the user name and password be attached to all applications.
  E. Falsification of any application information will result in disqualification of the applicant on the area level.
  F. Teacher having students or family members involved will not be allowed to serve on the interview committees!!
  G. Star Information: Applications due by 8:30 AM for pre check. Star interviews will begin at 1 PM. Stars will be interviewed by committees of Production, Placement, Agribusiness & Agriscience and will be assigned based on the number of applicants in each division and using the following district rotation schedule:

  H. District Degree Check Chairmen or a District Representative should be at the turn-in day before State Degree Check to facilitate any problems. That turn-in day is June 4, 2018 until noon, at Howe.

  C. All award and degree applications MUST be submitted to the conference room on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 by 5:00 pm.
 

AREA SPEECHES & SPEAKING CONTEST

  C. Entry: All entries will be made online at judgingcard.com by 6PM on May 1, 2017. Entries will be charged to your judgingcard account. Entry fee is $20 per contestant. Late entry fee is $120 and will be accepted until 6 PM on May 2, 2018.
  D. Two copies of materials MUST be turned in by 8:30 am on the day of the contest. Manuscripts must be turned in to compete in the contest!

Materials include:
  1. manuscript including cover sheet and complete bibliography
  2. statement of originality,
  3. SWCB consultation affidavit form, if applicable.
  E. Contest will begin at 10 AM (first extemp speaker will draw at 9:30 AM with subsequent speakers drawing at 15 minute intervals).
  F. Number of Participants: Two per district (1st & 2nd place) in all contests EXCEPT Senior Prepared, which will be 1st place only in each category.
