  10. Order of participation:
    1. The Greenhand & Senior Quiz must be started between 10 AM & 12 Noon.
    2. CREED SPEAKING CONTEST: Greenhand & Senior Divisions will begin at 10 AM in the order listed below and will run on 10 minutes intervals. Creed speakers will be sequestered at 9:45 AM and must be in the assigned room no later than 10 AM. Failure to be in assigned room WILL result in the forfeit of the 300 points allotted for questions.
    3. Public Relations & Ag Advocacy will run on 20 minute intervals and Radio on 15 minute interval.
    4. All Job Interview participants will need to at the contest by 8:30 AM to fill out the application portion for the contest.

State Scholarship Committee Member:

  1. Date Applications Due: April 3, 2023
  2. Place: All Scholarship application must be complete and delivered (NOT POST MARKED) to Jordan Loving at Prosper or Brent Lankford at Ponder.
  3. Any applications not received by 5 PM will not be considered.
  4. An Official 3½ year Transcript & Financial Aid Report must accompany all scholarship applications. If these are not provided, the application WILL NOT be considered for a scholarship.
  5. Applications will be scored on TBD at Prosper, at 2:30 PM.
  6. Each district will have 2 representatives on the scoring committee. Those 2 representatives were selected at Ag Teachers Conference and if they cannot go, they must find their committee replacement to serve.

Area Lone Star Degree Check


  1. Date: May 1, 2023, at 4 PM
  2. Place: Aubrey High School
  3. ALL Lone Star Degree Applications MUST be at this check! They will be allowed to be taken home for corrections and must be returned at the Advanced Area Degree & Awards Check on May 6.
  4. Each District needs to send at least 3 teachers to this Lone Star Check. (The ideal is to send 1 teacher with 3 or less years’ experience, 1 teacher of middle experience & 1 tenured teacher.)

  3. Each district is to select only one John Justin winner to advance to Area. John Justin & Ryan Mott applicants WILL be interviewed. (One of each per district)
  4. Each district is responsible for sending 15 teachers to Area Degree Check. Names are to be submitted to Jennifer Gilbreath by May 3 with committee preferences. Please remind teachers that Star Pre Check will be May 6, at 8:30 AM with interviews beginning at 1 PM.
  5. Each district must furnish 3 judges for the speaking contest. Please submit their names and contact information to Sandy Scheu.
  6. All district chairmen are expected to be at the Area Degree Check until it is over and all information has been properly recorded.

  3. All applications must be at degree check by 8:30 AM or they will be disqualified!!
  4. It is HIGHLY recommended that the user name and password by attached to all applications.
  5. Falsification of any application information will result in disqualification of the applicant on the area level.
  6. Teacher having students or family members involved will not be allowed to serve on the interview committees!!
  7. Star Information: Applications due by 8:30 AM for pre check. Star interviews will begin at 1 PM. Stars will be interviewed by committees of Production, Placement, Agribusiness & Agriscience and will be assigned based on the number of applicants in each division and using the following district rotation schedule:
    District 7 – 1st slot
    District 1 – 2nd slot
    District 2 – 3rd slot
    District 3 – 4th slot
    District 4 – 5th slot
    District 5 – 6th slot
    District 6 – 7th slot
  8. District Degree Check Chairmen or a District Representative should be at the turn-in day before State Degree Check to facilitate any problems. That turn-in day is until noon at Farmersville.

  4. One copy of materials PLUS 3 copies of the abstract MUST be turned in by 8:30 am on the day of the contest. NO UPLOADS TO JUDGINGCARD!!!!
    ALL required materials must be turned in to compete in the contest!

    Materials include:
    (1) manuscript including cover sheet and complete bibliography, (2) statement of originality, (3) SWCB consultation affidavit form, if applicable, (4) 3 copies of abstract.
  5. Contest will begin at 10 AM (first extemp speaker will draw at 9:30 AM with subsequent speakers drawing at 15 minute intervals).
  6. Number of Participants: Two per district (1st & 2nd place) in all contests EXCEPT Senior Prepared, which will be 1st place only in each category.
